About Ms. LilyI have been teaching early childhood at a Head Start school in New Jersey for four years. Prior to early childhood, I taught high school English in New York City for 9 years. I stumbled upon early childhood by miraculous accident, when my youngest son had been diagnosed with a developmental delay and began receiving services from early childhood intervention. Although my son no longer needs any services for his delay, my passion grew and I became an early childhood teacher. I have a Bachelor’s of Arts in English Literature and I hold a Child Development Associate. Currently, I am studying at Walden Unversity in an MS program for Early Childhood Studies with a specialization in Teaching Diversity.
I am trained in Teaching Strategies Gold: Creative Curriculum and have some working knowledge of High Scope. Although I haven’t been formally trained in the Reggio Emilia practice and theories, I try to bring some of that natural element and child-directed exploration into my classroom. I’m a member of the NAEYC and International Reading Association. In addition to being trained in Creative Curriculum, I am a certified Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) observer and have received training in Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale Ecers3.
I have taught 4-5-year-olds in my 4 years in early childhood, so the activities, books, and resources on this site are focused towards that age group. I absolutely love teaching and I love developing new games and activities for teaching. I have enjoyed writing for as long as I can remember, which has served me well as a blogger and writer of teaching ideas.
